Teresa McTaggart for Kurrajong

The Animal Justice Party is proud to announce Teresa McTaggart as our candidate for Kurrajong in the upcoming ACT Legislative Assembly election.

As a local of the Kurrajong electorate, Teresa is eager to represent the Animal Justice Party in pursuing legislative change to end animal cruelty.

Teresa has spent a number of years involved in dog rescue and rehoming, where she has witnessed first-hand the tragic reality of euthanasia in pounds and shelters. This is why Teresa is determined to reform local pounds and ensure transparency in reporting - to ensure surrendered companion animals are not lost in the system.

Further, Teresa supports the Animal Justice Party's plan to implement Veticare across the ACT. This world-first model will establish subsidised veterinary care as well as build specialised wildlife hospitals to ensure native animals can receive life-saving treatment.

Teresa is passionate about representing the views of her local community and understanding their needs. If elected, she will work to implement community-led changes to support those experiencing homelessness. Teresa will also prioritise local transport services, ending the kangaroo cull, and sustainable development that respects native spaces.

Teresa runs her own vegan baking business, as well as working part-time as a scribe. In her spare time, she supports Save the Brumbies, local animal sanctuaries, and enjoys spending time with her rescue dog, Archie.

The Animal Justice Party relies on regular donations to be able to run in Elections. Your generosity has helped us to increase our vote in each of the recent Territory & Federal Elections and this puts pressure on the major parties to make positive legislative changes for animals.
